Coordinating Multidisciplinary Research in Nanoscience & Nanotechnology...

This Center of Excellence in Nanotechnology at SRM University was established in the year 2006, to impart education to excel in Social Transformation through Nanoscale research.

With coordinating multidisciplinary research in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology as its' main objective, the center is now actively involved in research in areas like

  • Nanobioengineering
  • Carbon nanostructures
  • Nanotubes
  • Nanoelectronics
  • Nanomagnetics
  • Nanostructure materials and devices
  • Drug delivery system
  • Nano characterization applied to Engineering Sciences, Medicine, Biotechnology and information and Communications technologies

The center has secured institutional Collaboration with IGCAR, Kalpakkam and Sankara Netralaya, Chennai for the Nanotechology initiatives of the University. It has received a project grant of Rs. 1.2 crores from Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India for the development of Nano filters for water purification and removal of VOC's from contaminated air using supported Nano particles.
